Dentist Harley Street

A phobia is an excessive fear of an object or situation. In most cases, the phobia involves a sense of endangerment or a fear of harm.

Phobic symptoms can occur through exposure to the fear object or situation, or sometimes simply thinking about the feared object can lead to a response. Common symptoms associated with phobias include:

  • Dizziness
  • Breathlessness
  • Nausea

Phobias can severely take over a persons life and lead to some extreme, unwanted and antisocial behaviour. The treatment package for phobias includes an initial assessment of the problem, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and NLP. (Neuro Linguistic Programming).

Treatment will consist of two 45 minute sessions (total 90minutes) held over two consecutive days with our resident Psycotharapist Emma Cathcart (www.emmacathcart.com).

After this we can then arrange for Emma to be there for your first visit with the dentist if necessary, or if you feel ready we could arrange for a Dental examination by yourself.
